Shedding Skin by A. Klesath

Paint drips on my fingertips

Spread out and attach to everything

Close my eyes and I still feel the pain

Rain rinsing down

White paint on red soil

Soft sunrise brings peace and calm

As I shed my skin to begin again

Anguish of times wished forgotten

Skin is red and raw aching in my jaw

For lack of words I seek

calm, breath

shedding skin

red, raw

new skin

begin again.
